Every day more than 6 million inhabitants in Madrid turn on their taps and receive a top-quality essential resource: water. This has been taking pace for more than 165 years, a period in which the citizens of Madrid have been trusting Canal de Isabel II. We wish to continue managing a resource that belongs to everyone, using everyone's resources, and to continue representing a company of pride for all the inhabitants of Madrid.

Our Strategy

The Canal de Isabel II Strategic Plan addresses our challenges of modernization and sustainability, and maintains and promotes technological levels and excellence in service. We want to strengthen our public company by recovering its essence and integrating all Madrid city councils into our decision-making bodies, so that it becomes regarded as the motor channel of the Community of Madrid and a leading European company in the sector.

    President
     
     

    Paloma Martín is a Graduate of Law from the Complutense University of Madrid and holds a PhD from Rey Juan Carlos University.
    Since August 2019, she has been the Regional Minister of the Environment, Urban Planning and Sustainability of the Autonomous Community of Madrid. President of the Fundación Canal and the Sierra de Guadarrama National Park. She also serves as a delegate to the Government Committee for Economic Affairs. Until her appointment, she was a director at Deloitte. Prior to this, she held positions in the Regional Ministry of Health and Social Affairs of the Autonomous Community of Madrid, and has worked in the Ministry of Public Administration. She was also the spokesperson for Justice and Home Affairs in the Assembly of Madrid.
    She has served as a member of the Urban Planning Commission (2011-2014), a member of the Environment Council (2014-2015) and a member of the Madrid Institute for Rural, Agricultural and Food Research and Development (IMIDRA) Board of Directors (2011-2014).

For this reason, our work is certified and accredited by different national and international organizations and entities, which reinforces our commitment to the sustainable management of the integral water cycle.

Canal de Isabell II has implemented a specific Action Plan, certified by the TÜV Rheinland Certification Entity, which includes hygienic-sanitary, organizational, health and safety risk prevention measures to reduce the risk of contagion in accordance with the Safe Protocol Covid-19.

QUALITY ASSESSMENT INTERNAL AUDIT

Canal de Isabel II's Internal Audit activity is certified according to the Global (International) Institute of Internal Auditors. This evaluation shows the commitment of the Internal Audit, Risk Management and Internal Control Subdirectorate to comply with the International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing and to continuously improve its performance, professionalism and use of best practices.

According to standard UNE-EN ISO/IEC 17025: 2005 Assessment of compliance. General competence requirements of testing and calibration laboratories, the Laboratories of the Subdirectorate of Water Quality of Canal de Isabel II are accredited as testing laboratories in the environmental sector. Quality Systems

Since 2017, Canal de Isabel II has had a line of action throughout the development of process improvement projects, using methodologies that pursue effectiveness and efficiency in management, emphasizing people and eliminating activities that do not add value, with a focus on maximizing customer value. To date, 34 improvement projects have been carried out, and in these, more than 250 people have participated, and more than 300 improvements have been identified in different areas of company management.
