Hidráulica Santillana was created as a limited liability company in January 1905. In 2007 it became a sole-shareholder company following acquisition by Canal de Isabel II of the part of share capital that remained in the hands of minority shareholders. On 1st July 2012, the sole-shareholder became Canal de Isabel II, S. A.

The Company’s corporate purpose consists in producing, transforming and distributing energy, through the exploitation of the

hydroelectric plant on the company grounds in Navallar, as well as seven other plants, where exploitation has been assigned by Canal de Isabel II.

The eight mini hydroelectric plants belonging to the company have an installed power of 34.85 MW, with an accumulated production of 49.83 gWh at 30 June 2017 (in 2016 production amounted to 97.42 gWh)
