The company has already begun the processes for incorporating 400 people indefinitely to the workforce

The Governing Council of the Autonomous Community of Madrid approved the call for 366 new public employment positions in Canal de Isabel II with the aim of continuing to reduce temporary employment in the public company and to ensure compliance with its Strategic Plan 2018-2030.

Along with the offer announced in July 2018, the largest in company’s history, Canal de Isabel II will incorporate a total of more than 1000 indefinite employees to the workforce when all the processes are completed. To date, more than twenty selective processes have been put in place to incorporate more than 400 people to the company, and it is expected that before the summer 250 of these positions will already be formalised.

In doing so, they decisively advance in the objective of reducing the high level of temporary work at the company, which reached 44% as the result of the ban on indefinite contracts in public trading companies following the approval in 2012 of Government laws on the rationalisation of expenditure. Current management is committed to reducing the level of temporary work and retaining talent as established in one of the lines of the Strategic Plan 2018-2030, whose objective is to promote the talent, commitment and health of company professionals.

Access to the positions shall be carried out, as in the positions already called and those that are part of the previous offer announced, by means of public procedures, which shall be governed by the principles of publicity, transparency, equality, merit and capacity.

With this call, Canal will achieve the objective of reducing temporary work to below 8%, which was the objective set for the end of 2020 in the Agreement for Public Employment Stabilisation signed by the UGT, CCOO, CSIF trade unions and the Ministry of Territorial Policy and Public Service.
