The Regional Minister for the Environment, Land Planning and Sustainability will chair the company’s Board of Directors


  • The company today held its Shareholders' Meeting, representing the Canal de Isabel II public entity and 111 local authorities from the Madrid region  


The Board of Directors of Canal de Isabel II today appointed Paloma Martín, Regional Minister for the Environment, Land Planning and Sustainability, as president of the public company, which is responsible for integrated water management across the region. The appointment of Martín - who was already president of the Canal de Isabel II public entity - to the company’s Board was today approved at the public company’s Shareholders’ Meeting, representing the Community of Madrid through the Canal de Isabel II Public Entity and 111 local authorities from the region.

Other new appointments alongside Martín include shareholder directors Mariano González, current Deputy Regional Minister for the Environment, Land Planning and Sustainability; Pascual Fernández, Dean and President of the Madrid College of Economists; and Francisco Muñoz, Madrid City Council’s Director General for Water Management and Green Spaces.

Paloma Martín holds a degree in law from the Complutense University of Madrid and a doctorate from the Rey Juan Carlos University.

Prior to taking up her position as Regional Minister for the Environment, she was a director at Deloitte. In the past, she has held positions in the Community of Madrid’s Regional Ministries of Health and Social Affairs and worked at the Ministry of Public Administrations. She was also a spokesperson for Justice and Home Affairs at the Madrid Assembly.

She has served as a member of the Town Planning Commission (2011-2014), member of the Council for the Environment (2014-2015) and member of the Governing Body of IMIDRA (2011-2014).
